In reply to Henry Jeffreys. I know what you mean about the sweetness, it was a very flattering sample. Though maybe not a wine for 25 years, I think it'll see 15 to 20 with no problem at all - certainly had the intensity, fruit, acid and tannin to see it through.

In reply to Matt. Yes tried the 'Bonnes Mares'- very ripe fruit balanced with some nice tannic heft. I liked it very much. Do you think it'll age well? Seemed awfully sweet to me.

In reply to Henry Jeffreys. I bet that was a great tasting, Goedhuis really know their stuff. Did you taste D-L's Bonne Mares? Amazing! Haven't tasted Fourrier's yet, but they are really realiable, and still not that expensive compared to so many other Burgundy estates.

Went to my first Burgundy en primeur tasting (Goedhuis) last night and was surprised how enjoyable the wines were. Almost all deliciously ripe (some of the Drouhin-Larose ones tasted almost Californian.) Particularly loved Dom. Fourrier. If I had any money, I would be buying.

If you miss this year’s Burgundy tastings, there’s always the 2011 Bordeaux ones later in the year – much tougher on the tongue though…

Great post Matt, all stuff I guess goes through my head (and palate!) but really nice to have it all laid out so well. Sadly, I’m missing several of the big Burgundy EP tastings this week because of work stuff. Boo.
