Brilliant, thanks Martyn. I need to get some beers in for Christmas too so will check out your blog. I always seem to spend more on beer than wine of an evening though – if I share a bottle of wine, that’s normally £5 – 8 each; if I buy myself 3 bottles of beer for the evening that’s £9…

Glazed ham – a good farmhouse or Normandy cider
Roast goose – American IPA or Belgian golden ale
Turkey – wheat beer, or porter
Rib of beef – strong dark British ale
Christmas pudding – barley wine

Hi Daniel, glad you enjoyed it. There are lots of other good Crozes available of course, many better than this one – but also more expensive. This is the best value Crozes I’ve tasted lately – probably due to the scale of the deal with Sainsburys. It’s by family-owned M Chapoutier – worth a try.

Nice piece which made me hungry and thirsty, but I am sure I have seen other producers of Crozes-Hermitage in wine merchants shops, apart from Sainsbury’s.
