Hi John,

I will be going to Vinisud this year, but just a flying visit, sadly – will try and catch you in May. Interested to try the pure Terret for sure!

Matt, see if you can’t get someone to pop for a trip down to Vinisud, 20-22 Feb. There should be at least 50 pure carignans on the show, a list/map we’re (with help from sebastian nickel) trying to get ready asap. There’ll also be at least 5 pure Terret whites…diving even deeper into the mystery of old grapes… If Montpellier at end of month isn’t doable, perhaps then see you at Real Wine Fair, 20-22 May in London (Caves de Pyrene) Thanks

Interesting article. You are right, Carignan wines have changed a lot within the last years and really is an interesting grape variety, giving a lot of character to the wines. And probably also an identity to the wines of the Languedoc…
PS Like all great grape varieties, Carignan has it’s own day now: Carignan Day will take place on February 29 in 2012!
