I know what you mean about prices for those appellations going up, but compared to Bordeaux and Burgundy, the best appellations (if not always the best producers) are at least still relatively affordable. Saint-Joseph is a good call for cellaring - and don't forget Cornas!

2015 is indeed a year to restock, it seems. In the past ten to fifteen years I’ve seen one time regular purchases from Côte Rotie and Hermitage climb beyond my pocket. At the same time, AOCs like Saint Joseph have improved, but no one will argue they are as good. But perhaps in 2015 they will be “good enough” to cellar with satisfaction. This may be where I shall be looking, perhaps with a foray into Crozes.
